【#ArtBuysel: A feast of art for your eyes】

Wrapping whimsical with delicacy, this is a game beyond craftmanship. Through those talented hands, art itself is a journey traveling through the ocean of time and space. The one hiding in a teapot, the one dancing with leaves, the one bathing in a teacup, this item reclaims Hong Kong’s very symbols through the craftsmanship dating back to the 1600s.

The intricate production process of Guangcai requires two to three times of blasting in the furnace, once for colour, the second blast to secure the gold powder, and a third in case of error, demanding painstaking attention to details brewed in time. This handmade spoon travels the ocean of time and space and documents endless cultural stories.

Due to the chemical composition of colouring mix, Guangcai spoons are not for dining purposes. Please feast on this journey with your eyes. As Guangcai is on the verge of disappearing, save this cultural heritage with hundreds of years of history in your home, and pass a piece of culture on. Years of dedication in one sight, please enjoy delicately.

【#ArtBuysel | The mystery beauty of Shino ware】

Shino ware (Shino-yaki) originates from Japan, as the pronunciation resembles “white” (Shiro) in Japanese. White clay as the base, painted with iron oxide, glazed and fired at a high temperature of 1300 degrees, Shino ware is born in the embrace of the uncontrollable temperature maneuvering the fire, resulting in a unique look of unruled pattern of red.

The unique aesthetics and exudence of life in Shino can only be met, never forged!

The special texture on the surface of Shino is created by the pores produced during the feldspar glaze dries or melts and boils. Traveling through these textures on your fingertips, and playing with dips and valleys, you can see a whole new world through the touches. Thanks to the ingredients produced through the high heat, ware also gives the water a cleared and subtly sweeter taste.

Siu Man Kit, Kate started her ceramics study in Japan with her mentor, Shibata Setusro in 2014. Using the concept of iron painting to combine white clay and red clay to create various patterns, Shino ware is a chess game between the ceramic artist and fire, and details are carved to perfection in between the exciting rounds, leaving us excited and nervous about the outcome.

Holding a piece of Shino in your hand, and then can you feel the extraterrestrial beauty of Shino. White and red glisten under the sun, signaling mere beginning of this journey.
